https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/colour-in-the-spotlight-tangerine 2023-02-13T06:34:23+00:00 2023-02-13T06:34:46+00:00 Colour in the spotlight - Tangerine! Hayley Anderton Wearing colour is quite a new thing to me, it all began with the VILA pink coat at Christmas, I flitted between my usual 'Oh I love it!' and 'That's far too bright for me!' and came to this conclusion...Sod it, I love it i'm wearing it!

The colours we have seen arriving already this season are incredible and there are still so many more to come!

When reading about SS23 on Pantone.com I came across a few phrases which made me full in love with colour even more...

2023 is all about wearing 'Brightness and positivity'

These colours show a 'fearless attitude and freedom of expression' I love that!

Today's colour in the spotlight for me is orange, Tangerine if you're local and I can assure you ladies it really is tangerine! A stunningly bright shade which instantly lifts your mood and your style. Whether it's a head to toe tangerine ensamble or just adding a pop of colour with accessories (How fabulous are the Powder sunglasses in the bottom right corner?!) this colour is sure to brighten up your outfit this Spring Summer.

Which colour are you loving right now? I'd love to know! Pop it in the comments below x

This week has been all about colour, we definitely didn't feel blue Monday at Blossom but we certainly felt bright Tuesday when we received one of our first Spring/Summer deliveries yesterday! How we love our boutique, our "job", and each and every one of our products! It’s not as easy as it looks, to get it right though you know.... but we do try our best.

Identifying and acquiring new products is actually a bit of a lengthy process, but it’s always a journey worth making when we get to see brands like Joe Browns on our rails. So who is Joe Browns and where did it start? Read their “about us” on their own homepage and you’ll hear about a group of friends, sharing a beer, after a surfing session on a beautiful beach in ……. North Wales! I really wasn’t expecting that! They talk about their designs using descriptions like boho, but what does this word actually mean? The definition of "boho" is mixing artistic colours and textures and that’s more than obvious in their fabrics” So did we get it right? It’s a huge leap of faith bringing a well known but "new to us" range into a small boutique like ours. To help to make these important decisions we could spend hours analysing our webs sales to see what sells best, to see if certain products have done well, or were well received but it’s not just about that. We believe at Blossom, that our huge family of customers are comfortable enough to help us to make these choices! That's why we ask and pre-order from time to time, so that we know that you are getting exactly what you want. We are loving Joe Browns and it seems that you are too. Stick with us this year for a whole new templebethelsalinas.

Lainey has been a fashion designer for over 25 and knew in her heart she wanted work in with fashion from 2 years of age. So we have a new kid on the block? We are so very excited to be working with A Postcard from Brighton for the very first time. Our ladies seem to like the collection and so far so we couldn't be happier about the feedback. Its always scary taking new brands on board and in the current climate they really have to hit the mark, versatility, value for money (price per wear), great quality and sustainable too. So a little background ladies...

Lainey and Mark met back in 2011 working as designer and supplier to the high street. Lainey has been a fashion designer for over 25 and knew in her heart she wanted work in with fashion from 2 years of age. She would toddle around the local neighbourhood asking for pieces of material and empty boxes to make a house and clothes for Dinky the cat and her dolls. Fashion is at the heart of everything she does. Lainey had always dreamt of creating her own brand. So when Mark said ‘go on then lets do it’ A Postcard From Brighton was created in January 2012.

The name refers back to the postcards that Lainey’s Mum used to send to her as a young child when she was away from her daughter having treatment in hospital. Lainey’s Mum was quite poorly and had lots of treatment but did not want Lainey to know how ill she was. So she sent postcards from all over the world pretending she had been away travelling. Lainey loved and treasured these postcards. Brighton is one of Lainey’s favourite places she loves the 24 hour vibe of the place along with the creative, eclectic mixture of people and places there. Brighton has inspired Lainey to design clothes for all occasions. Items that can be worn in many ways and will work hard for you within your wardrobe. Effortless and easy to wear whoever you are and whatever you are doing.

Also at the heart of what Lainey and Mark do is caring for our planet. A Postcard From Brighton and Sundae Tee are mostly made from a wood pulp viscose jersey. The fabric and garment make up is also made in Leicester where the brand are based. They both champion British manufacturing with a low carbon footprint. Lainey also designs each garment with longevity in mind. Each garment is considered around how the customer can wear it many ways. Its not designed around any trend fads that only last a season. Lainey’s designs can be worn season after season in many ways. Try for yourself or book a playdate and see what you think?

A Postcard From Brighton and Sundae Tee are the opposite of fast fashion. The collections are slow fashion designed with love and passion.

We aired this post on templebethelsalinas last night and it got a great reaction but we thought that with your help we could do better. This wonderful woman, this lovely lady and her fabulous team deserve all the support that we can give them so that they can selflessly help others. Maybe you work for the council or social services, the NHS or for a large organisation and you can ask to get this onto your intranet?
For anyone who doesn't know this lovely lady this is Helen, one of the kindest, funniest ladies we have ever met and ladies, she has a ginormous heart! 💕
Helen set up the community group SASS which is a group all about celebrating women, learning from one another and getting advise/support with absolutely no judgement or criticism. This week Helen is asking for donations or tinned/packet foods, bras (old or new) and old spectacles as she supports some amazing local causes. If you have any of these items ladies please please 🙏🏼 feel free to drop them at templebethelsalinas and we will get them to Helen for you x 💕💕

Wear what you want to wear...
Over the last couple of years I have been working very hard on my mindset, changing the way I think and feel and ultimately becoming a lot more confident in myself.
When I ordered this coat for the boutique I absolutely loved it, really, really loved it but I thought I wish they did it in black so I could have one! When it arrived I tried it on and loved it even more in real life, I loved the colour but worried it was too bright for me, not my usual colour or it would make me stand out...now Hayley from two years ago would have admired it from a distance but never been brave enough to wear it...this Hayley? Oh she's wearing it!! I love it and that's all that matters to me (and it's so easy for Ella to spot me in the school playground 🤣).
So ladies if you've ever been put off wearing something you love because it's not your usual style or you think someone else may not like it then please give it another try, it feels flipping fantastic! 💕 H x

So when we received a huge delivery this week (with two more still to come) it's fair to say I was a teeny bit excited. I adore this brand, the quality of these bags is absolutely incredible - the finest Italian leather, made in Italy and finished with subtle gold fittings - perfect.

The combinations really are endless with these bags!

Choose your bag (each bag comes with a plain leather strap the same colour as the bag) and then if you'd like add a patterned strap and create your very own combination…any bag & any strap…how will you decide?! We're always happy to advise if you're struggling to choose, just message or email and together we'll find your perfect combination x

A few of my favourites...

Sunflower:

A stunning, vibrant, sunflower yellow which works perfectly with the black & white Dalmatian strap

Navy:

Classic & classy. The navy crossbody bag looks super chic with this tri-stripe strap in red, white & blue

Metallic Pewter:

This metallic style will take you from day to night, we love it with the champagne stripes strap

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/were-proud-to-stock-a-postcard-from-brighton 2022-08-25T13:49:58+01:00 2022-10-20T20:42:30+01:00 Proud stockists of A Postcard From Brighton... Hayley Anderton A new brand is always very exciting, especially when it's one that you're crazy in love with already! This week I've been falling deeper and deeper in love with A Postcard From Brighton as I have learned more about the brand and the incredibly passionate team behind it.

First of all the name of the brand has the most beautiful story behind it. It refers to postcards which one of the designer's mum's used to send her when she was away having treatment in hospital, she didn't want her daughter to know how ill she was and so she would send postcards pretending to be away travelling the world.

At the heart of the brand is caring for the planet - most styles are made from wood pulp viscose jersey and both the fabric and garment make up is here in the UK in Leicester where the brand is based. Every last garment is considered around how a wearer can wear it in many different ways, these styles are certainly designed to last year after year and not just for one season or trend. Your price per wear on these styles will be so low after you've worn them again and again.

Here's how I styled just one piece, the Shirty top - a plain black style with chiffon sleeves and back - I layered over the Sammy vest & wore with leggings, over the Nancee sleeveless dress, the Milly skirt and then just with jeans. I added the abstract leopard snood to add a little pattern. Such a versatile piece and one you'll definitely be reach for over and over again.

All styles are available online (Shop A Postcard from Brighton here) or in our beautiful boutique, pop in for a browse and a try on.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/work-can-be-so-trying 2022-07-27T06:30:00+01:00 2022-10-20T20:50:18+01:00 Why work can be so "trying" Hayley Anderton I love my working life. Im lucky I know that I am, to be doing something on a daily basis that I truly love. Its not without it downside though. I read this week a great piece about doing what you love for a living and the fact that this then means that you will never truly work a day a your life. The article pulled this theory apart on the grounds that if you truly love what you do you cant leave it alone and therefore tend to work longer hours. If you let it your work can become an obsession plus the fact that you are working to pay your bills, put kids through school, pay for holidays... you have to work hard at it. I do think though that what can be said is its easy to do all this if you truly are doing what you love to pay those bills. I am the other side of 50 (Half way in fact!) so I am lucky that most big commitments are behind me, grandkids aside, but I still have to pedal harder these days. Im at the point where I am making it more fun for myself. You may have read about our recent days out or seen one of our morning cuppa lives? That's the real me, a bit of a clown, love a laugh and adore being alongside my family. This weeks shopping has been a huge success, we have loved showing off the new arrivals and I have loved pushing my boundaries and going with my feelings. I have no intention of going grey lol - my wardrobe is getting pinker by the week. Bring on those colours ladies, life begins when you let it!

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/how-to-impress-mum-this-mothers-day-1 2022-03-13T16:41:02+00:00 2022-03-13T16:41:03+00:00 How to impress mum this Mothers Day Hayley Anderton Yesterday I asked mum what she would consider to be the perfect Mother's Day gift, I thought I'd share the ladies answers with you and maybe give you a little bit of inspiration for this Mother's Day.

Firstly, as a mummy to two very energetic girls, my number one gift would be sleep! A whole week of sleep please! Or, as that doesn't seem to be an option, I would love a new Joma bracelet to add to my collection and wear every day, I would stack it with my other Joma Jewellery.

Shop Joma Bracelets here....Joma Jewellery

When we asked my Gran she said 'Any gift from Blossom is a gift in itself' We love that Gran! If I was choosing a present for you I think I would be drawn to the Envy jewellery. Gran is great at layering jewellery and uses different styles and lengths to create completely different looks from the same outfit.

Shop Jewellery here....Jewellery

My top tip would always be a Blossom gift voucher. These can be bought online or in store and can be spent online and in our boutique too. This way the lucky recipient gets to browse lots of lovely goodies and buy whatever they want.

If you have any problems purchasing or choosing just ask. We are here to help and we really do love to chat to you.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/why-we-love-emu 2022-03-13T16:30:23+00:00 2022-03-13T16:30:23+00:00 Why we love Emu... Hayley Anderton As I write this post i'm sat in my Emu Jolie slippers and my feet are loving me for it - so snuggly, 100% sheepskin lined and oh so perfect (plus a sole which you can wear outside! Perfect for nipping to the car or putting the bins out - yes I know i'm far too glamorous!)

We've loved Emu ever since we first tried them at Blossom but after our training session last week we're even more head over heels.

Emu Australia are the original sheepskin boot - in the 1970's local surfers visited the Emu tannery and used off-cuts to wrap around their feet & keep them warm after being in the water, the natural insulating properties of the wool were perfect for warming up feet after a long day surfing. Still to this day Emu are still based right in the heart of Australia's prime wool growing district.

Unlike other brands, Emu still design their shoes from the sole upwards - comfort will always be the most important feature - genuine leather, sheepskin linings & many waterproof designs.  The durable, waterproof rubber soles are great for providing better traction in wet weather, great for days out walking or simply braving the great British weather. With some boots having a thermal rating of -30 degrees, Emu boots are also perfect for any ladies who love to ski.

If you've never slipped your foot into an Emu shoe or slipper then you really need to get yourself to Blossom and have a try on - you will not be disappointed!

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/caroline-its-all-about-me 2022-03-13T16:30:23+00:00 2022-03-13T16:32:28+00:00 Caroline - It's all about me... Hayley Anderton

Good morning. Its all about me today! Hayley challenged me to do an open and honest introduction to our ladies and said that she would then follow suit. Ok H here I go!
Firstly the reason for this is that we have lots of new followers, so hello and welcome to all those who have joined us lately or who are dipping in and out and wondering whether to stay or not. We (Hayley and I) spend a great deal of time in front of the camera and on here talking about and posting photographs of clothes and accessories. What we dont always do is share with you our experiences of clothes and accessories and how "real" we are. Here goes... 😜
My name is Caroline and I am not a "clothesholic", shock horror. I like to look nice sometimes, but I suppose I am a little too fast for my life at times and would be better suited to dungarees and toe capped boots! I love to climb ladders, hammer nails and I will absolutely be the one emptying the hoover and trying to make it suck better and work more efficiently. I am a happy person and love my life. My fall outs are usually with myself, Im short and overweight and my goal at this stage in my life is to get back to wearing pretty underwear and to look good in jeans, but I am not losing sleep from this, I am just taking positive steps, the first being to remember to include myself on my daily list of "things to do" - whether its time to blow dry my hair or read a book. Just a tiny bit of me time. Im not very good at taking care of myself, I would rather lecture others about how to look after themselves - and I know lots of you are the same.
Caroline - I am 54 years of age and soon to be 55 and I love love love these numbers. They mean that I am alive and that cant be a bad start. I am married to Phil, only two years married in September and still definitely in the honeymoon period. We have the same tastes in boats and music and boats and food and boats and cars and boats.. yes we love being on the water. Phil is my rock, my anchor, my soulmate. We are crazy together, we dance like idiots in the kitchen after a good night out, we get up in the middle of the night with no planning to go on fabulous days out and we just generally have fun. We love our kids and grand kids and we are starting a whole new chapter of our lives together and loving every minute. If we have a row (only one or two so far) you will all know about it, thats when its Thundering and lightening over Hambleton! We get it all out there and move on.
Clothes and Blossom. I have to admit that it is great being surrounded by beautiful things and I have had some "moments" that will stay with me forever (I once got stuck in one of Joannas stunning jumpsuits that unfortunately was lime green - I couldnt stand up straight it was so small, so I looked like a big green frog!) Im human and I am a Taurean, I love fine wine and good food. I have lost weight for two weeks on the trot at Slimming World so both times I rewarded myself straight after class with a meal at Twelve restaurant! Not only is that not clever, it means that my slimming is costing me about £110 a week! I will get there, I am determined and I will be posting more about my size and shape if you can handle it and how Blossom clothes fit me. I want to share my bra stories, how my quest to get into nice undies is going (I wont share pics promise) and what I struggle to wear and what I love. If it suits me tell me, if it doesnt speak up. You thousands of ladies are all my new best friends, so if anyone says to me, "what the hell are you wearing that for?" I will know that you didnt play nicely. -
All my love - Caroline x

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/my-wardrobe-essentials 2022-03-13T16:30:22+00:00 2022-03-13T16:30:22+00:00 My Wardrobe Essentials Hayley Anderton

With lots of building work about to begin in our house it has meant that we have had to sort out all of our clothes, I mean all of them...even those in the 'I will definitely fit back into these one day' draws! I started to plan my major clear out, where to begin? Moo! Throughout the whole process I have had the lovely Moo in my head..'Capsule wardrobe Hayley, Price per wear, Timeless, Versatile...' With Moo in mind and the thought of having to pack away everything other than what I'm keeping out for the duration of the build, I set to it and started to create my new capsule wardrobe. Here it is ladies, here are my own new wardrobe essentials which I think create a great foundation and of course I will be adding new pieces throughout the season (I'm only human!). I must admit it felt great to be able spend time putting together outfits and thinking about all the different occasions (meaning days of the week!) I can wear one item for.

1. Vero Moda shape up jeans - If you've been following Blossom for a long time you maybe sick of hearing about these jeans so please forgive us - we just love them! We have stocked these jeans for almost 6 years now at Blossom and we have never had anyone say they don't love them - they are incredible. They lift your bum in all the right places, they wash beautifully, no baggy knees here! At just £34 (£30.60 if you have a loyalty card) the price per wear is incredible - I wear these jeans 5 out of 7 days every single week, If I did that for just 6 months my price per wear would be 18p!!! I have had my current pair for way over a year. They really are a must - available in sizes XS-XXL which translates to UK size 8-20 and in three leg lengths 30", 32" and 34" (If you need any help with sizes please just message.

2. Vero Moda Oversized sweatshirt & joggers - Being at home with my two girls and being sat at an office desk a lot of the time I need to be comfortable. As soon as this set arrived I fell in love! Usually I don't wear anything oversized, I'm only 5ft 2 (and 3/4) so it makes me feel short and stumpy, however - I absolutely love how this fits, the sweatshirt is longer at the back (perfect for keeping your kidneys warm) and the trousers are a straight leg with cuffed hems. I went for the cashmere blue but think I may also add the grey to my collection - again at £50 for the set (£45 with your loyalty card) if you wear this set once a week the price per wear is 86p!

3. Vero Moda Blue Denim Utility Jacket - This jacket is so me! As you can probably tell by now I am all about comfort. I have wanted a denim jacket for years but never found one which fit my properly or wasn't really stiff - until I found this one! Made from 100% Tencel which is so soft and also kind to the environment - winner winner! I bought this last spring as a lightweight jacket for warmer days, I wore it all throughout my pregnancy (unfastened!) and it even made a few appearances this winter over a plain roll neck. This is defiantly a piece I will be wearing year after year.

4. Vero Moda Polka Dot Tops - If you haven't tried our Vero Moda organic cotton t-shirts then you're missing out! I have the plain t-shirt in most colours and I have now added both the black & white polka dot styles to my wardrobe. They are so soft against your skin, a lovely relaxed fit and they look great with jeans, joggers and smart trousers. Made without the use of harmful chemicals they are not only kind to your skin but also the environment. At £18 (£16.20 with your discount card)  even if you only wore them twice a month (you'll definitely wear them more!) your price per wear would be 67p.

5. Vero Moda loose string trousers - Oh my! I am such a jeans girl and never like the way joggers look on me - that is until I tried on these! I fell so deeply in love that i've ended up with both black and navy, oops. They are ultimate comfort and I think they look amazing and smarter than a normal jogger. They have an elasticated waist with drawstrings and those all important pockets. I have worn mine with my pumps so far but they'll be great with sliders or sandals in the Spring/Summer. At £35 (£31.50 with your discount card) if you wear them once a week then the price per wear is 67p!

6. Vero Moda Blue Knit - This knit it is perfect for this time of year, a lovely fine knit and a beautiful colour. I tried this on for a picture thinking it is not usually something I would wear but I absolutely loved it on, a nice change from my usual black, grey or khaki. I wear this with both shape up jeans (It looks nice with both the medium and the dark denim) and the loose string trousers in navy, it will look fab with white jeans in the summer too. Again made from 100% organic cotton so kind to your skin and the planet. At £22 (£19.80 with your discount card) if you wore this knit for 6 months of the year your price per wear would be 85p over 12 months!

Last but not least...

7. Vero Moda Wide leg paper-bag trousers - I know we may not be making many restaurant reservations right now (hopefully soon!) but these trousers are so my style. We have stocked them for a while now but I haven't been able to try them with being pregnant (VM really need to start maternity!). These are definitely going to be my new go to smart trousers - I love the wide leg and the loose belt is great for drawing the eye away from my tummy - winner winner! The elasticated waist is really comfortable making them the perfect trousers for a meal at Twelve - saves me having to undo my top button! At an unbelievable £28 (£25.20 with your discount card) these trousers really are a timeless classic, if you wear them 6 times a year your price per wear will be £4.20 and I can assure you you'll be wearing them for years to come.

So there you have it ladies, these are my 7 must haves for now - they make up endless combinations just with those 7 items, I think I could get close to 20 combinations! I'd love to know your wardrobes must have ladies - is there one piece you've had for years? We'd love to see!

Any questions about any of the styles please just message

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/whats-your-style-personality-find-out-with-our-latest-blog-by-moo 2022-03-13T16:30:22+00:00 2022-03-13T16:30:22+00:00 What's your style personality? Find out with our latest blog by Moo Hayley Anderton Our Blossom award-winning style guru, Moo, has worked in television for over 20 years with presenters including Natasha Kaplinsky, Kirsty Young, Kirsty Gallacher and is now a personal stylist to us ‘normal women’ sharing all the inside tricks of the trade.  She’s spilling the beans on shopping for  your style personality.

Image me with Caroline??? Doing colours and both laughing…

When I conduct style consultations, my goal is to ensure that my client feels as positive as possible in her clothing choices. In order to do this they need to make her feel her best and are comfortable for her. This varies dramatically from client to client – some love tailoring, some love flowering prints and lace, others love more edge or flamboyance. The more your wardrobe marries with your inner self the more confident you’ll feel about yourself.

So the areas I start with in a style consultation is: a client’s style personality to make sure her clothing reflects who she is; her body shape to ensure she uses fabrics and shapes to flatter her as much as possible; her colours as these can make you look younger, healthier and dare I say slimmer; and finally her lifestyle to ensure her wardrobe matches what she spends her time doing. All of this helps stop wrong costly purchases in the future and saves money. It means every time she opens her wardrobe she feels happy as she knows every piece will make her feel confident.

There are an infinite number of style personalities but I like to hone them down to six. Now don’t worry you can be a split personality – so one at work and one out of work. You can also split yourself between two style personalities – which I do. I love analysing a client’s style personality as it is important not only for your clothing style but also hair and shoe choices. It can even extend to the new must have accessory of the year – face masks. So let’s have a bit of fun and work out which one you are…obviously these masks are now necessities but it doesn’t mean they can’t reveal your style personality. Which one is more you?

Creative - Homemade or from alternative retailers such as Etsy
Dramatic - Bold or textured fabric that makes a statement
Romantic - Feminine and pretty pattern or plain and sparkly
Classic - May have several masks to co-ordinate with different outfits
Natural - Plain and disposal so it doesn't require washing
City Chic - Plain and understated in a neutral colour

I love going through a boutique and seeing at a glance different style personalities hanging up. Imagine we are strolling through Blossom boutique and picking up garments as we go, this is what they reveal…

https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/popular-products/products/pre-order-vero-moda-puff-sleeve-top-black

This has dramatic written all over it. They like to make an impact and have people notice what they are wearing. Catherine Zita-Jones is a dramatic.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/jojos-boutique/products/vero-moda-aware-snow-white-night-sky-striped-top

A Breton stripe is always in a classics wardrobe. In fact they have them usually in lots of different colour ways. A classic may struggle with casual wear (they loathe jeans with trainers) and we work on different solutions that they feel more comfortable with. Classics always chose style over fashion and are well groomed with matching shoes and handbag. Think of Jackie Kennedy or Reese Witherspoon.

 https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/roomy-range/products/made-in-italy-floral-linen-top-light-grey

A romantic loves flowers. They also are a fan of lace and detail. So they may have bows on their accessories or pleating on a shirt. They wouldn’t go out with perfume or lipstick on. Think Kylie Minogue.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/jojos-boutique/products/vero-moda-plain-laurel-wreath-top-pre-order-arriving-w-c-8-6-20

A city chic style personality is a huge fan of neutrals. Everything works together in their wardrobe and they often colour block. They love accessories. Catherine Duchess of Cambridge was a true classic but she’s now much more a city chic.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/jojos-boutique/products/organic-cotton-dress-pre-order-1

I think lots of us have a touch of a natural style personality nowadays. Comfort is very important to them and they would never wear anything that pinches or restricts. A full on natural style personality may need help with what to wear to work or out that still makes them feel themselves. Jennifer Anniston would be classed as a natural.

https://templebethelsalinas.com/collections/made-in-italy/products/made-in-italy-cotton-abstract-dress-azure

More is more for a creative. They love a colour, pattern, fabric clash and combine things fabulously. Their shoes don’t need to match anything! I often say to a creative – let’s take 1 or 2 things off! I am part creative! Helena Bonham Carter is a great example.

Bear this in mind when you’re shopping. You want what you wear to be an expression of you. Knowing your own style can bring so much more confidence and ease of dressing every day, as well as saving you money in the long run. I’m here if you need any more advice at www.moostyle.co.uk or please find Moo Style VIPs on facebook for style short cuts and tips. I’ll also keep popping up at templebethelsalinas both in person and in line – so keep an eye out for me. I’m the one with the creative and natural split personality!

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/lets-love-ourselves-a-little-bit-more 2022-03-13T16:04:04+00:00 2022-03-13T16:04:04+00:00 Let's love ourselves a little bit more Hayley Anderton As children we are taught to treat others as we would like to be treated and speak to others as we would like to be spoken to. I believe that as adults we need to be taught the opposite, treat yourself as you would treat others, speak to yourself as you would speak to others.

Body confidence, body shaming, body positivity, body body body is everywhere we turn. Since owning Blossom we have met so many incredible ladies, thousands of ladies either in person or whom we have chatted to online and almost every single lady has had some hang up or another about their body, no matter what size, shape, age they are. I am guilty of this myself just as much (if not more) than anyone but I cannot believe the way we talk about our bodies, the way we prod & poke at them and squeeze and squish the bits we don't like - this is where I believe the treating yourself as you would treat others comes into action. Would you poke a friend in the tummy and suggest it's time they shifted the baby weight? Or would you remind them of the incredible job that their body has done in creating, carrying & birthing a whole human being? Would you grab a friends arms and wobble them saying they need to work on their bingo wings? If a friend tried on a dress and it didn't fit would you tell them to be disappointed & frustrated or tell them to simply get the next size up, no one sees the label any way? It seems that when we look in the mirror or down at the bodies we have we are drawn to the bits we don't like but we wouldn't even notice these 'flaws' if they were one someone else?!

Our bodies are flipping amazing ladies and we need to celebrate the bits that we do like and yes maybe work on the bits we don't but do not focus on them, do not point out all the negatives and ignore all of the positives. I know that I need to shift a few pounds and this is something I am trying to do though exercise and maybe cutting back on the takeaways (I bloody love takeaways!), but just as important as getting into shape is learning to love the body that I have and what it does for my every single day.

Being a mummy to two little girls I constantly praise them on achievements, something I think we should do more for ourselves. If you've drunk one more glass of water then yesterday, walked 100 more steps or given away your last malteaser then well done you! You're doing amazing and picking up on the positives and trying to ignore the 'negatives' will only lead to more victories in the long run.

Please join me ladies in trying to be kinder to ourselves, I am looking forward to sharing my best bits with you, no more wobbling & poking! Lets treat ourselves as we would treat those we love and let's see wonderful things happens xxx

Hayley Anderton If you follow us on Facebook then you may have heard us talking about our Vero Moda Shape up jeans - we are in love!

I myself have always struggled to find a good pair of jeans with a nice shape, a nice colour and that I don't need to take out a second mortgage to buy - I have spent £80+ on jeans which are just not right. I have worn so many different brands (and sizes!) over the last few years and have never found a pair which I love & actually enjoy wearing, they all seemed to let me down in one area or another.

Drum roll please....and then we discovered Vero Moda shape up jeans...Game Changer! These jeans are not only the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn but they are also available in two fabulous shades, the dark denim look great dressed up for the evening & the lighter denim are perfect for daytime wear (I have both as I'm sure you've guessed!).

Available in sizes XS (approx UK 6/8) to XXL (approx UK 18/20) and in three lengths, 30", 32" and 34" perfect for anyone struggling to find petite or tall lengths. The classic style & colour of these jeans means that they are perfect for all sizes, heights & ages, just ask my family...Myself, Mumski, Aunty Sue & Granny Val all own & love a pair of the Vero Moda Shape-ups!

Did I mention that they are only £34?!

The brand writes..."The main objective of the shape-up jean is to highlight the best attributes of your future. Simply, they are created to give a better bum & longer legs - with body hugging and super stretchy slim fit to add both comfort & shape" SOLD - You had us a better bum!

Order online or get into Blossom and try these wonder jeans on ladies, you will not be disappointed. But, don't just take my word for it, take a look at these reviews by our lovely Blossom ladies...

  • Bought these jeans just before Christmas, comfortable I don't feel as if I'm wearing anything. They don't dig into you just stretch love them. Just purchased another pair with zips on the ankle. Ladies these are a must have in your wardrobe.
  • These jeans are by far the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn
  • Lovely jeans, nice soft material. They feel so comfortable, will definitely buy more xx

Our Blossom award-winning style guru, Amanda, has worked in television for over 20 years with presenters including Natasha Kaplinsky, Kirsty Young, Kirsty Gallacher and is now a personal stylist to our Blossom ladies, sharing all the inside tricks of the trade.  We wanted to know more about how Amanda shops.

Hi ladies. Im Amanda and I want to share a little bit of me with you. Lets start with how I shop these days and why. Today we are much more aware of sustainability and the impact of fashion on the planet. I like to encourage my clients to shop sustainably and ethically. Your fabric choices can have a bigger impact than you think. One of my favourite brands I’ve come across that embraces this but still at a great price point is Vero Moda & I love that Blossom is one of the few places in Australia you can actually shop it. Don’t worry you can shop online too if you can’t make it in to the Boutique. I love that they have an amazing curvy range too, up to size 26, and the Vero Moda Curvy range is really made to flatter not simply resizing.

I always check the fabric prior to purchasing a garment – not simply to check how it needs to be washed. Let me take the Vero Moda organic cotton jeans as a classic example. The heavy use of chemicals in cotton farming is causing diseases and premature death among cotton farmers, along with massive water pollution and soil degradation. Organic cotton is grown without harmful fertilisers and pesticides. So not only positively impacting on the land it also isn’t harming the farmers growing and picking it. It’s also much more gentle on our skin when we wear it. On top of that the cut of these Shape Up jeans are SUPER flattering. They have darts to lift and sculpt. I would buy no other type of skinny jean. And as a pear shape skinny jeans are not my best friend…but with this cut, they are. (Click here to shop our Shape up jeans)

Also Vero Moda make a lot of their clothing out of Tencel. This fabric is made from eco-friendly wood pulp and with a system that recycles 99% of its water and solvents. This ensures reduction of the amount of the earth’s resources that are used. Super clever. Also it is incredibly soft and washes well. It’s the perfect choice for clothing and I’d highly recommend especially if you haven’t tried it before. (Click here to shop our Vero Moda T-shirts)

Let’s also bear in mind the price per wear. We want to ensure that each garment we buy we wear as many times as possible. This lovely Vero Moda grey coat is £90 and uses recycled wool saving on landfill and energy. As it’s in a neutral colour you can wear it for years. Perhaps one year with a fabulous teal scarf and the next with a strong purple. Let’s imagine you wear a coat for 6 months of the year (we know it’s much more really but I’m not wanting to appear too biased!). And if you wore this coat half the time – in all honesty if you’re like me you wear the same coat all winter. In year 1 that would mean every time you wore the coat it would cost you £1, when you did the same in year 2 it would be down to 50p per wear. And in year 3 it would be 30p each time. Although I keep wearing my coats for a lot more than 3 years!

I’m the one with the red hair!

https://templebethelsalinas.com/blogs/our-story/why-are-our-emu-boots-selling-so-well-read-on 2018-09-15T07:03:00+01:00 2022-03-13T15:45:41+00:00 Why are our Emu boots selling so well? ...... read on.... Caroline Wolstencroft UGG versus EMU - No Contest!

But dont take our word for it,

Credit to:

https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/pages/Website/Emu/UggversusEmu.aspx

In our opinion, Emu sheepskin boots are far superior to Ugg branded boots.  Both brands use high quality Australian sheepskin and, on first inspection, are very similar indeed in terms of look, quality and feel.  Upon closer inspection and having worn the boots for a few months big differences do, however, emerge. We have thoroughly tested both brands and listened to customer feedback and this is what we discovered.

  • All Emu boots have removable arch support insoles and the outer soles are re-reinforced  on the outside edge of the heel area.  Both these features help to prevent pronation (the rotational movement of your foot and the collapse of your in-step arch).  A pronating foot can lead to foot and knee pain, shin splints, achilles tendinitis and a lot worse.  The media have famously reported such incidents with Ugg boots which do not come with either of these important features.
  • Emu boots come with a fibre glass re-enforced heel cup, so your boots do not sag or collapse around your heel.  Ugg branded boots use cardboard but, after you have worn the boots for a few months, this cardboard can become bent or crushed if you occasionally have difficulty sliding your feet into your boots – and who doesn’t after a few too many vin chaud!
  • Emu sheepskins are pre-treated at the tanning stage to give them water and stain resistant properties.  This means snow and water form beads and just roll or drip off the boots – instead of soaking in, staining the sheepskin and wetting your feet -  like on an Ugg boots.  This tanning process is fantastic because it produces a sheepskin which looks and feels just like any other.  The only way you can tell the boots use pre-treated is when you actually get them wet!
  • On a like for like basis Emu boots offer far better value for money because they are slightly cheaper but come with all of the extra features already mentioned.
  • You can not fool the Aussies.  At the last count only 5 retailers in Australia stocked Ugg boots but over 700 stocked Emu.

Ironically, Emu boots are manufactured in the original Jackson’s Tannery – which was the home to Ugg branded boots until the name was acquired by an American company and production moved away.  So, if you like, Emu really are the original Ugg boots, only better!
